This Man Hasn’t Bathed in 60 Years!

80 year old Amou Haji lives in a remote area of Iran and for 60 years he hasn’t had a bath!!

He believes that bathing will make him sick so decided to stop cleaning himself in his 20’s. Not only does he not clean himself but his favourite meal is rotting porcupine and smokes dried animal droppings. But you know what, he seems happy, free and content with his existence…

Apparently South Koreans take looking good very seriously, and they have one of the most affordable plastic surgery industries in the world. In 2012 their medical tourism industry raked in $453,000,000! Some of these people look so different their parents wouldn’t even recognise them.

AfrikaBurn’s Incredible Structures from 2013

AfrikaBurn is a spinoff of the Burning Man Festival that happens in Tankwa Town, South Africa. The festival follows the same guiding principles as Burning Man, encouraging “communal effort, decommodification and total expression of the self”.

This year will be my first year attending and I cannot contain my excitement!!

The image above is Daniel Popper‘s Reflections, the three-story structure was fitted with custom LED lights with seventeen different simulations programmed by Justin Eastman.

Photos of Post-Soviet High-Rise Buildings by Frank Herfort

The grand structures were built across the former Soviet Union after the fall of communism.
The strange thing is that these buildings are also used to manipulate the humans and try to make them feel small. I never had the idea, that these buildings are constructed and designed for people. If you go inside or around, you see that there are no infrastructure, no pavements, no real access.
The photo series is available in book form here.

The Internet Cracks Code of Dying Grandmother in 14 Minutes

Ask MetaFilter member JannaK presented the community with a puzzle that had been troubling her family for nearly 20 years. Her grandmother died in 1996 from cancer and in her last days she scribbled down a seemingly non-sensical string of characters on index cards. Nobody knew what it all meant. Then the Metafilter community solved the puzzle in 14 minutes.

Arnie Goes Undercover at Gold’s Gym

Arnold Schwarzenegger went undercover (albeit a terrible disguise) at Gold’s Gym to raise money for  After-School All-Stars, a program that helps provide kids with health and leadership education. Donations of $10 or more will put you in a drawing for a chance to fly to Los Angeles to ride in a tank with Arnold, smoke cigars, and crush things.
