Guess the patch isn’t much help to a smoker with a hard shell. Tang, a chef in Donghu, China, thought he was doing a turtle a favor when he tried to remove a chicken bone from its stomach. But when it snapped at him, Tang stuck a cigarette in the critter’s mouth to keep it occupied, and one was all it took. Now the turtle he is helping his boss raise is hooked and stalks Tang whenever he lights up, bumming as many as 10 smokes a day from his keeper, who is desperate for advice on how to get his pal to kick its month-old addiction. Not that he’s worried about the turtle’s health so much. He just can’t afford to fund two habits.
